The present invention relates to an eggshell coating composition comprising a cationic polysaccharide polymer, pullulan, a polyphenol compound, and a polyvalent metal salt, and to an egg coated therewith. The eggshell coating composition according to the present invention exhibits low gas permeability and excellently preserves the freshness of eggs. Moreover, since the components used in the composition are naturally derived, the composition is environmentally friendly. In addition, since the coating layer demonstrates high adhesion, the eggshell coating composition effectively maintains the freshness of washed eggs and prevents the penetration of pathogens, thus being advantageous for long-term storage.
