Described are methods for making a bio-based cleanroom grade packaging material. The method includes providing a resin mixture comprising about 5% to about 40% by volume of a biodegradable material and about 60% to about 95% of a polymer resin, extruding a bio-based film from the resin mixture, cleaning the bio-based film, and converting the bio-based film into the bio-based flexible packaging material inside of a cleanroom. The method may further include winding the bio-based film onto a master roll after the extrusion step. The method may yet further include laminating the bio-based film with a recyclable film after the cleaning step.
