GLYCOL CHITOSAN DERIVATIVE CAPABLE OF DOUBLE CROSSLINKING

An aqueous solution of a glycol chitosan derivative of the present invention exhibited a thermoreversible sol-gel transition in the range of 21-54°C, and the gelation temperature could be controlled by means of the polymer concentration and the degree of substitution. By performing photocrosslinking using ultraviolet light on a glycol chitosan derivative hydrogel, a chemically crosslinked hydrogel with improved mechanical properties could be prepared. A thermogel containing the glycol chitosan derivative showed thermosensitive sol-gel transition characteristics in the concentration range of 2-6 wt%. In addition to the thermosensitive characteristics, the chemically crosslinked thermogel can have various property ranges depending on various photocrosslinking times, polymer concentrations, and substitution rates, and thus is expected to be useful for various biomedical applications.
