A biomaterial comprising a polymer and an elastic recombinant protein, wherein the polymer comprises at least one cross-linkable functional group, and a method of preparing said biomaterial. In certain embodiments, the hydrogel is gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) and the elastic recombinant protein is elastin-like polypeptide (ELP).
